Here is an interesting case that presented yesterday for a second opinion. I would really appreciate your opinion and insight into this.

Patient is 36 years old and was diagnosed with breast cancer 6 months after delivering her first child. That was 4 years ago.

After chemo in 2016, she has never been able to get fully anesthetized for dental treatment. She has had dental treatment such as crowns, fillings, and onlays done, but has had to hold onto the chair and “get through it”. She has had upper teeth treated, lower teeth, and upper anteriors. (#9,8,30, 14, and 18 treated)

Her most recent treatment was 11/19 for #18.
The dentist placed multiple shots. At one point, the patient said, “it felt like someone poured gasoline on my face and lit a match.” The next day she had a migraine for 2 days.

She takes the following medication to prevent the cancer from returning: Letrozole aand Zoledex.

That is when she decided to seek a 2nd opinion. Her parents have been patients of mine for over 6 years.

My question: Have you ever heard of this? A neuralgia after chemotherapy? She has no lingering sensitivity once the procedure is complete.
